Bookbinding Course

Wednesday 15th December | 7pm to 9:30pm

This is the perfect one-off book binding course. It will introduce you to the excitement of creating your own book in the form of a collaged journal.

Mark Cockram is a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders, who spends his days restoring ancient classics or binding Man Booker winners. This December, he will teach you how to make an A5 lined book which could be used for journalling, to-do lists, doodles… you name it. It will also make a beautiful Christmas present.

Using traditional materials, techniques and tools, students will make a hard cloth cover and then apply vintage and contemporary papers, images and text to create a unique front cover. Please bring your own cuttings, photographs and special scraps to create your personal cover. Though don’t let this put you off, we will provide options too.

Finally the text block (pages) and the cover are glued and pressed together using a finishing press.

The Collaged Note Book Evening is intended as a taster to bookbinding and book arts. You will learn measuring and cutting techniques as well as use traditional bookbinding tools.

(If you like the session, you could always join us for a three session ‘Introduction to Bookbinding’ in January. Scroll down for more information).

All materials and complimentary drinks included.
