This Week’s Recommendation: Faces Places

Faces Places was one of the three fifth ranked film of Season 56, with an audience rating of 92%.
Filmmaker Agnes Varda joins forces with JR, a street artist and photographer to roam the French countryside in his van. No ordinary van, it contains a camera capable of producing extraordinary photos to the delight and surprise of those who venture inside it!
Sadly, the world learnt of Varda’s death on 29th March 2019, a few days before this screening. At that time, the editor of these notes was reminded that she directed the 1977 film, one he saw at university, 'One Sings, the Other Doesn't' (L'une Chante, L'autre Pas). That film that was instrumental in him becoming an international film fan and hence joining RFS in 1981 … check it out.
