A walk through Shakespeare's London

Meet at 10.15am for 10.30am in the courtyard of The George Inn, 77 Borough High Street, SE1 1NH. Go to London Bridge on the Jubilee Line. Take the exit at the back of the train and follow the signs to Borough High Street. At the top of the escalator take the "East Side" exit. When you arrive at the street, turn left and The George Inn is 75 yards along the pavement.
A theatre history walk through Elizabethan London to give a flavour of the "bard" and his life. Starting at the historic George coaching inn, we move on to Southwark Cathedral, the burial place of Edmond Shakespeare. We will consider the Bishop of Winchester's 'geese' and the 50% royalty he took from the Globe theatre. We will discuss the remains of The Globe & The Rose Theatres and then the reconstructed Globe & Sam Wanamaker Theatres. Across the Thames will take us to Blackfriars and Shakespeare's house, then on to Middle Temple Hall, the venue of the first performance of Twelfth Night in 1602
The tour will last approx 2 hours and there will be a coffee break (not included in the cost). The group is limited to 20 but an afternoon tour can be arranged for 2.15pm the same day

Elif is the most widely read female author in Turkey and her new book, long-listed for the 2019 Booker prize, takes an unflinching look at the trauma to which women are subjected in a social system defined by patriarchal codes.
