In conversation at Duke Street Church, Richmond - an artsrichmond conribution to the LBRUT Literature Festival
After an introducton by Cllr. Frances Bouchier, Peter Hennessy, the eminent modern historian, discussed his latest book, The Secret State, with James Naughtie, the BBC radio presenter, in a fascinating dialogue which ranged over the past 50 years of British political history. The large audience was enthralled and amused by this insider's view of the workings of the political machine and the many questions after the conversation elicited further thoughtful responses from both speakers. A most enjoyable and enlightening evening!
