Government advice has rightly hardened and is advising on social distancing measures reducing social interaction between people in order to reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19). We have therefore reluctantly concluded that PP will be suspending poetry activities for the duration of the pandemic. We are sorry for the disappointment which this will cause but recent trends make this inevitable. We will be in contact again as and when the pandemic wanes and we can safely arrange further poetry sessions.
Anne herself is recovering from coronavirus and as soon as she feel better will be contacting those involved with ‘VE Day 75 Years On’; The Twinning Programme and The Luther Poets. She is hoping that the first of these, ‘VE Days 75 Years On’ – When The Lights Go On Again could be rescheduled for September, hopefully when there is a lull in COVID-19 transmissions and before the onset of the influenza season.

The Adelaide Pub is an ‘open mic’ venue for amateur performers and professionals who like to read and perform poetry they themselves have authored. Performers are encouraged to sign up in advance for a time slot although a few spots may be available should they turn up on spec. Very often a featured poet will be invited to make a guest appearance to talk about their work and to perform a short selection of their poems.
All you need to do is to buy a drink at the bar and make your way upstairs to where Heather and Graham will take your £2 and ask whether you want to read or just listen. Either way, you’ll be really welcome.
The evening is hosted by a MC who will introduce poets and singer-songwriters, if performing.
A poetry theme is suggested for each month, but this is optional.
Venue: The Adelaide Pub, 57 Road, Teddington, TW11 OAU [ just a few minutes’ walk from Teddington train station and bus stops :33, X26, R68, 281, 285, 481].
