Monthly Tours: Black Presences in National Collections
10 Feb 2018 - 7 Apr 2018
This term Michael will be at 3 different London museums running his tours on the Black Presences in Art. You can join him once a month for these tours, which take place on weekends at midday.
There is a black presence in many of the works in the nation’s collection. That presence takes many different forms; blacks are depicted as musicians, as kings, as slaves, as servants, as saints and sometime just as people and as artists in their own right. The Black Presence in most cases is explicit though not immediately and sometimes the presence has to teased out, Michael seeks to make that presence better known. He will point out things you never spotted, highlight people worth noticing, and tell you the untold stories of the works of art in the collection!
Note that pre-booking on these tours is essential, so that we can keep track of the group size!
